For the last three weeks, I've been trying to find the words to say thank you. I know that they aren't hard words, but they seem to completely inadequate to expressing the love and thanks and joy I have in my heart for all of you who contributed in some way to this community, to all of you who gave so generously and who made my own heart grow twenty sizes.

Quite simply, I feel blessed. Thank you.

I want to extend my warmest thanks to everyone who donated money and fanworks to the 4_a_star extravaganza to benefit our beloved shoshannagold!

I am thrilled to announce that we have met + exceeded our goal for Shosh, raising nearly $2000 USD for her to pay her rent, utilities, and have a little bit to live on while she's desperately searching for a job these next few weeks.

We literally could not have done it without you.

I am shocked and awed and incredibly humbled by all of the generosity that you have all displayed, coming together to help a fellow fangirl. I literally have had teary-spells off and on, thinking about all of this.

I feel incredibly proud to be a part of such an amazing, wonderful community of fangirls.

A LONG GK FIC

For $100, I will finish a Generation Kill wizards AU that I started about two years ago and haven't touched in ages. It parallels canon, taking place during OIF and afterwards, but with the addition of magic and Brad/Nate UST developing into a relationship by the end. It will be at least 30,000 words when finished. I have about 5000 words done on it but its been sitting on the back burner for about two years.  The story follows vampire Brad and Nate from Iwo Jima through all of the major conflicts that 1st Recon had participated in. A study in the evolution of Marine Corps warfare, with porn.

(2) The Twelve Days of Christmas, Baltimore Style -- Brad/Nate -- AKA "the Nate comes out to his family over Christmas" story. Hijinks will be sure to ensue.

Friends, I know you've seen the amazing things that fandom can do when they're organized for a common goal. I've seen fandom band together to raise money for everything from natural disasters to personal tragedies, and I've never failed to be touched and overwhelmed by the generosity I've seen my peers display.

Consider this then a call to arms for one of our own.

Our beloved shoshannagold was let go from her job last week with very little warning. She went from gainfully employed to not in thirty-six hours. Unfortunately, this is not the first in a series of unfortunate circumstances that have befallen Shosh this Autumn -- but this will be the the one that breaks the camel's back.

On Monday, she was given notice from her landlord that she would be evicted from her apartment on December 20th unless she could pay her rent in full at that time. She owes $800 CAD to cover the rent for November and December. If she's unable to pay it, she will be removed from her apartment in 13 days.

Unfortunately, Edmonton, AB, where shoshannagold resides, there are very little jobs available; they are feeling the recession in full force. shoshannagold has applied at numerous places, both for entry level and skilled work, in the hopes that even one of them would be hiring.

They are not hiring.

shoshannagold is an amazing writer and an amazing woman, and I feel confident saying that she's touched a lot of people over the past few years. I hope that at least some of you are willing to touch her right back (but not that way, you pervs!)

To that end, this is my proposal:

Myself (mydocuments), kahtyasofia, oxoniensis, alethialia, lunasky, pjvilar, little_missmimi, and nightanddaze are all willing to write ficlets as incentive for people to donate. The amazing ladytiferet is willing to make graphics as well! Our very own bijoux is also willing to bake some of her amazing dessert goodies and donate them as well!! We have elected not to do an auction system because of the time crunch that we're under. If you want to know who is writing what, check out the author posts linked at the end of this post !
